Debt collector phone number lookup: who is calling?
A number keeps calling you, and you want to know if it is a debt collector phone number. Type it in the search box to see which collector lists that number on its own website. If the calls come too often, call our debt help line and choose whether a consumer lawyer gets your details.
Talk to a consumer lawyer about the calls
You looked up a number that keeps calling you about a debt in your state. More than seven calls in seven days count as too many, and a judge can award up to $1,000. Call our debt help line, not the collector's number, and decide whether a consumer lawyer hears about these calls.

Send the number that keeps calling
You searched a number that called you about a debt in your state. Collector calls before 8 a.m. or after 9 p.m. break the rules, and a judge can award up to $1,000. Send the form with the number, the collector's name, and how often they call.
Sending this costs nothing and commits you to nothing. We keep your answers with the collector's name, and you decide whether a consumer lawyer sees them. Debt Collector Lookup is not a law firm or a debt collector. The form does not schedule a call; to talk, call our debt help line during business hours.
How many calls are too many?
Seven calls in seven days
Federal limit on calls.
So more calls than that about one debt count as too many.
Write down the date and time of every call.
8 a.m. / 9 p.m.
Hours collectors can call.
So a call before 8 a.m. or after 9 p.m. breaks the rules.
Mark any call outside those hours in your call log.
three attempts within seven days
New York City call cap.
So from September 1, 2026, New York City collectors get three tries in any seven days.
Count calls and texts together if you live in New York City.
What number does each collector publish?
We copied each number from the collector's own site. These are their numbers, not ours. Call back on one of these, not on the number that called you.
Could the caller be fake?
Scammers use real company names and fake caller ID. The FTC says a fake collector may refuse to give a mailing address or phone number. It may also threaten to have you arrested.
Hang up and call the company back on its listed number. See all 8 signs of a fake debt collector.
Where do I report these calls?
Report real collectors that break the rules to the CFPB, which sends complaints to the company for an answer. Report scam calls to the FTC.
The call hours and the seven calls rule are in the CFPB call rules.
Did the call rules change in 2026?
From September 1, 2026, New York City caps debt collectors at three attempts within seven days for city residents. Calls and texts both count toward that cap. Read the official notice.
